6-Benzylaminopurine
1. Usage: The first artificially synthesized cytokinin. 6-BA has the effect of inhibiting the decomposition of chlorophyll, nucleic acids and proteins in plant leaves. Currently, 6BA is widely used in citrus to maintain flower and fruit set and promote flower bud differentiation. For example, 6BA is an efficient plant growth regulator, showing good performance in promoting germination, promoting flower bud differentiation, increasing fruit set rate, promoting fruit growth, and improving fruit quality, etc.

This synthetic cytokinin primarily breaks apical dominance, stimulating lateral bud break and shoot proliferation. In agriculture, it increases branching in ornamentals, improves fruit bud formation in orchards, and delays senescence in leafy vegetables and cut flowers.
Applied during summer (July-August), it converts vegetative buds to fruiting spurs in apples/pears, increasing yield potential by 15-30%. Winter applications (dormant season) stimulate branching for improved canopy architecture in young trees.
By maintaining chlorophyll and protein synthesis, it extends vase life of cut flowers by 5-10 days and reduces yellowing in stored leafy greens. Combined with gibberellins, it prevents degreening of citrus during transport.
Ornamentals tolerate higher rates (50-100 ppm) than food crops (10-30 ppm). Dwarf apple varieties may show excessive branching at concentrations suitable for standard trees. Always conduct varietal trials before full-scale use.
Excessive rates cause abnormal leaf thickening, reduced internode elongation, and occasional chlorosis. In fruits, may delay color development and sugar accumulation if applied too close to harvest.
